Singer Jack Weaving met guitarist Oscar Dawson at a local swimming pool where they were both working for spare cash. Dawson was also studying music with bassist Joe Franklin, and soon their paths crossed with Cory Blight (drums) and Scott Targett (keyboards), two schoolmates from Tasmania who had moved to Windsor. The five bonded over a shared sense of humour and outlook on life, and from there Dukes of Windsor were formed.
With a top ten hit and an ARIA nomination already to their name, it was only a matter of time before Dukes of Windsor graced the Rove band stage. Most will remember them from their infuriatingly catchy single 'The Others' which was remixed into an ARIA and APRA nominated chart smash last year. After the success of their first album, the band headed to Sweden to record their second album. The band arrived in the depths of the Arctic winter, and bunkered down at Tonteknik Studios – a former lunatic asylum, to put the album together. The result, set for a mid-2008 release, should see the Dukes join the top ranks of Australia's indie-electro scene. The band also shot the clip for their latest single 'It's A War' in Sweden.
Dukes of Windsor are in the midst of a national tour but that hasn't stopped them boarding a plane and jetting to the Gold Coast to join Rove. Dukes of Windsor will be performing 'It's A War' on the Rove band stage – and this is your chance to see the next big thing!
