Shappi Khorsandi

Shappi Khorsandi

Hailed as Britain's best young female comic by any yardstick, Shappi's part of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival with her show "Asylum Speaker".

Terrorism, bulimia, Enid Blyton... It hasn't always been glamour, glamour, glamour for this sassy Iranian. In the early '80s, Shappi became a refugee long before it was fashionable. Then Scotland Yard uncovered a plot to assassinate her father. Terror had followed them from Iran to West London. As assassins chased after them, they went into hiding and tried to lead a normal life – seeing friends, going to school, checking under the car for bombs. Shappi tells her true story in a brilliantly intelligent and funny show.
