Kate Miller Heidke

2009 has been a tremendously successful year for Kate. Curiouser was released October 2008, resulting in her first top 10 album. Can’t Shake It, the first single from the album, was nominated for an APRA Award in the prestigious Song of the Year!

In May 2009, Kate’s single ‘Caught in the Crowd’ was awarded the Grand Prize in the highly respected International Songwriting Competition. The judges, including Tom Waits, Ray Davies (The Kinks), Robert Smith (The Cure), T-Pain and many other music icons, voted unanimously for Kate’s song as the winner. This is the first time in history an Australian songwriter has been awarded the Grand Prize. Kate co-wrote all of Curiouser with her husband, Keir Nuttall.

Kate’s first album Little Eve (released 2007) has surpassed Gold sales and was nominated for five ARIA awards, including Best Female and Best Breakthrough album. Kate is renowned for her live performances and she and her band consistently perform to sold out crowds across Australia. In April 2009, Kate starred alongside David Wenham in Jerry Springer the Opera at the Sydney Opera House. A brilliantly tangled mix of exuberance and invention, fearlessness and fun, Kate Miller-Heidke released her sophomore album "Curiouser" in October of last year. The follow up to her critically acclaimed 2007 debut - the 4 x ARIA award nominated and gold selling "Little Eve" - "Curiouser" debuted at #8 in the ARIA album charts, and the reaction from fans and media alike was instantaneous. Kate Miller Heidke will be performing her stunning new single “Last Day on Earth” on Rove.

"Big pianos, big vocals, real chills-up-the-spine stuff. She's good, this girl." The Age Magazine

"Playful , quirky and endearingly tongue-in-cheek, Miller-Heidke is the pop talent to look out for. . . . Experimental and hook heavy, her new songs fall into two gangs - fun and witty or powerful, emotional and reflective. This is one of the few 2008 albums where every song is a killer, no filler." 5 Stars - The Mercury

"With operatic whirl samples and a bumping RnB bassline opening the record, it is how she follows it up so seamlessly with a piece of well crafted acoustic piano pop that leaves jaws still gaping." 4.5 Stars - dB Magazine
